Under the activities of Strengthening the Institutional and
Business Capacities of cooperatives in Palestine Project implemented by the Economic and Social Development Center of Palestine under We Effect Country Programme, the second Strategic Plan for the Cooperative Sector had been launched on Monday 30 of December.
 
The event was organized under the Patronage of his Excellency Dr. Ahmad Majdalani – The Minister of Labor. Dr. Majdalni mentioned in his speech that “it is not the chance behind the titling the launching event Cooperatives Contribute to the Socio-Economic Development in Palestine” the ministry of labor had submitted this vision since three years and conducted number of interventions to achieve the goals related. He also called the cooperatives and Unions to work toward achieving this goal through restructuring their hierarchies and correcting their financial, administrative and legal situations. By the end of his speech he thanked and appreciated the Ministry’s  partners specially the We Effect and the Economic and Social Development Center of Palestine.
 
In the Speech of Mr Akram Al Taher – the Economic and Social Development Center of Palestine, he mentioned the the ESDC works from its establishment to participate in building Palestinian Society where the individual depend on himself economically and live in social justice. Mr. AL Taher concentrated on the strategic relation between the ESDC and the Ministry of Labor through the complementary roles in developing the cooperative sector. And he appointed to achieving number of success stories including building data base represented by issuing number  of studies and researches concerning the cooperative sector.
 
Mr. Mohammad Khaled the We Effect Manger of Palestine office represented in his speech number of support directions that the We Effect offered for cooperatives and institutions supporting the cooperative work. he declared the support of his institution in training cooperative specialists in the cooperative field during the coming three years.
 
Mr. Sameer Al Masri the chairman of the Agricultural Cooperatives Union had dispalayed the Cooperative Movement Speech where he mentioned the importance of this event.
 
The Cooperative Sector Strategic plan for the coming three years  main topics and goals was then displayed by the consultant Mr. Thouqan Al Qishawi where the strategic goals was merged to be three goals , in addition he displayed the different policies of the plan.
 
The ceremony entitled “Cooperatives Contribute to the Socio-Economic Development in Palestine” included launching and distributing a set of studies and training Manuals they are: Housing Cooperatives Study, Training Curriculum and Cooperatives’ Relevance Manual. Where there was brief presentation of their context by the consultants prepared them: Dr. Abdulhamid Al Barghouthi and Mr Shawkat Sarsour and Mr Abed Yaseed – the programs Manager in ESDC respectively.
 
The ceremony attended by 280 person representing cooperatives, unions, ministries, local and International NGOs, consultants and researchers. Where there was rich discussions and recommendations from the attendees during the event.
